Glasgow was invited in the summer of 2006 to develop a proposal for a pilot within the Department of Work and Pensions Cities Strategy. The proposal was developed by a city consortium compromising all of the key funders of employability interventions in Glasgow, including Glasgow City Council, Careers Scotland, Jobcentre Plus, Greater Glasgow Health Board, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, Communities Scotland, Scottish Funding Council, Glasgow Community Planning Partnership, and Equal Access to Employment. The consortium is chaired by Jim McColl, Chief Executive of Clyde Blowers and Chair of the Glasgow Welfare to Work Forum.
Equal Access and Glasgow Community Planning Ltd organised a number of consultation events on behalf of the consortium to seek the views of potential customers of the City Strategy, and of frontline and operational management staff in intermediary agencies from agencies from public, private and voluntary sectors.
The attached document summaries the key messages drawn from the overall consultation, and from each of the events.
